Psychiatric Care for Children
Children are our greatest asset. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the adults in their lives to lay the foundation for success. If children experience abuse and trauma, especially during their early formative years, their mental development can be seriously impacted in truly devastating ways. For some, these effects may persist long into adulthood.
Many children who have experienced trauma will not explicitly communicate their feelings because they may not be fully cognizant of the gravity of their situations. In these instances, it is imperative for a professional to observe the behavioral issues a child is presenting.
Whether the behaviors are consistent with specific biological disorders (such as ADHD) or indicative of emotional distress, our doctors are adequately equipped to diagnose your child’s symptoms and provide the necessary treatments.
If your child has suffered distress, contact Integrated Behavioral Health and consult with one of our child psychiatrists immediately. No child should be denied psychiatric help. Help your youngster learn healthy ways for dealing with negative feelings.
Psychiatric Care for Adolescents
Adolescence is perhaps the most crucial and formative time in a person’s life. This is the period when our beliefs, morals, and attitudes towards ourselves develop. When a teenager experiences a traumatic event, they can suffer from emotional and mental deterioration which, left untreated, will lead to a lifetime of behavioral health complications.
Our psychiatric and therapeutic services specialize in treating teenagers who suffer from conditions such as depression and severe anxiety. These mood disorders may be triggered by a specific external occurrence but may originate from chemical deficiencies in the brain. Consequently, your teen’s mental health issues may be addressed with medication management and confidential therapy sessions with our compassionate doctors, nurse practitioners, and/or therapists.
Though you may feel that being included in your child’s mental health journey will be helpful for you both, confidentiality between counselor and child is crucial for establishing trust and helping your child begin to heal. Please respect that whatever your child discusses in session is private and should only be discussed on their terms or with express approval from the counselor.
Visit Integrated Behavioral Health and one of our doctors will meet with you and your child to discuss possible treatment plans.
