Dr. Harper is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist that practiced for five years in Northern Virginia in multiple settings, including hospitalization and outpatient treatment, before coming to Alabama to join IBH. He sees children and adolescents ages five to seventeen with a wide range of diagnoses, but his particular clinical interests include anxiety disorders in children and young adults including generalized, social, separation, and other anxiety disorders, as well as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Dr. Harper strives whenever possible to use logical, diagnosis-driven medication management. He is also a strong advocate for medications being assistive to psychotherapeutic interventions, which should be concurrent with any medication therapy.

Dr. Liu joined IBH after graduating from the University of South Alabama Psychiatry Residency in 2019, where she served as chief resident for her fourth year. She also worked as a moonlighting physician for Altapointe Health Systems. She obtained her medical degree at the University of South Alabama Medical School in 2015. Dr. Liu went to undergraduate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she double majored in Brain and Cognitive Sciences and Music. She worked in labs at MIT and Columbia University studying visual perception and neuronal testing and continued to explore these areas as a laboratory assistant at UCLA piloting multitasking studies using MRI techniques on human subjects. Dr. Liu relocated to Alabama where she received her training in medicine. Dr. Liu continues to combine her passion for psychology with her interests in providing quality medical care.

Her focus is adult mental health but she looks forward to caring for all ages and issues. She believes that an individual should be as comfortable seeking help for a mental health concern as one would be for a physical problem and hopes to contribute to decreasing the stigma associated with mental health diagnoses. She embraces the practice of encouraging the client/patient to be an integral part of determining their course of care and treatment.
