Trauma (Adult and Childhood)

If you have ever experienced a distressing event, such as the loss of a loved one, you may be suffering trauma. While this may seem frightening, trauma is, unfortunately, a quite common occurrence, affecting about 70% of Americans and has more than likely touched most people in your life at some point or another.
When coping with a traumatic event, it is normal to have feelings of depression, anxiety, fear, and helplessness. While these feelings are natural, there is no need to deal with them alone. Seeking professional help may be a hard decision for some, but with treatment, you will once again be able to live life the way you want to.
Dealing with trauma is hard- let the trusted professionals at IBH provide you with unparalleled care and support so that you can return to being the person you are meant to be.
Childhood Trauma
If trauma is experienced in childhood, studies show that those affected may struggle with other mental health issues later in life such as depression, PTSD, and substance abuse. Thankfully, through a variety of psychiatric treatments, the negative effects of childhood trauma can, over time, be resolved.
Adult Trauma
If trauma is experienced in adulthood, those affected may also struggle with related mental health issues. Studies have shown that adult trauma often is more detrimental to one’s health in later years than childhood trauma. However, treatment is still available for anyone suffering. It is never too late to seek help and start a better life.
