Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapeutic treatment used to treat a variety of mental health issues such as addictions, phobias, personality disorders, eating disorders, and depression.
CBT is an extremely effective and useful mental health treatment because it teaches you coping skills that you can use now and in the future.
Through CBT, you and your therapist will set realistic goals focused on changing negative thought patterns and rehearsing positive ways to deal with negative thoughts in the future.
If you are feeling hopeless because of your mental health disorder but are apprehensive of more intensive treatments, CBT is a fantastic place to begin therapeutic treatment as it is less focused on digging into the root of the issue and more focused on building positive thought patterns. A happier life is well within your reach.
Is medication used in conjunction with CBT?
For some, CBT is effective on its own. However, some people require additional treatment through medication. If you are not medicated and looking to start CBT, you can talk with your therapist if you think a combination of the two would be the right choice for you.
How do I know if CBT is right for me?
CBT is a type of therapy that is structured and may require work outside of sessions. For CBT to be most effective, you must be willing to set aside time outside of sessions to complete the work assigned by your therapist.
